Program Description: Marine Technology Program

 

The Marine Technology program provides students with a hands-on foundation in marine service and repair through four key areas: marine safety and trailering, marine engine service, electrical systems and rigging, and seasonal maintenance and detailing. Students develop industry-aligned skills in boat safety, trailer operation, engine systems, DC electrical troubleshooting, and marine preservation practices, with integration of Mercury University training and NYS boating safety standards.

 

The program emphasizes applied, real-world training using industry tools and procedures to prepare students for employment in marine service environments. Upon completion, students earn the Marine Service Associate Credential, preparing them for entry-level roles in marine maintenance, marina operations, and boat service, as well as advancement toward Mercury Certified Technician pathways.

According to data from MRAA and NMMA studies on the New York Marine Industry Economic Impact, $735 million account for annual retail sales of new boats, engines and marine accessories in New York. More than 4,900 jobs are supported by boating in just three upstate NY congressional districts (19, 20, 21) that ENYMTA represents.

This Marine Technology Program is a collaboration with Employment Training for Adults, Saratoga Economic Development Corporation, Eastern New York Marine Trades Association and Saratoga, Warren & Washington Workforce Development Board. 

 

Marine tech
