Financial Assistance

The following information includes potential funding resources and sponsoring agencies for continued education. Your eligibility may differ depending on the program or training you are interested in. It is your responsibility to research these options as BOCES cannot determine your eligibility. 

ACCES-VR (can be used for all adult classes)
Formerly known as VESID, this service is only for individuals with disabilities. Adult Career and Continuing Education Services-Vocational Rehabilitation (ACCES-VR) offers access to a full range of employment and independent living services that may be needed by persons with disabilities through their lives. Through its administration of vocational rehabilitation and independent living programs, VR coordinates policy and services relating to:

  • Transition services for students with disabilities from school to adult services

  • Vocational rehabilitation services for working age individuals with disabilities

  • Independent living services for people with disabilities of all ages

  • Business services for hiring a qualified, diverse workforce

ARCC Leadership Adirondack Scholarship
The ARCC Leadership Adirondack Scholarship is intended to help individuals 18 years or older to start or extend careers in skilled trades (see the eligible programs). The scholarship will benefit individuals participating in the BOCES Employment Training for Adults (ETA) program by providing financial assistance to eligible students who wish to enroll in skilled trades classes. Eligible students must reside in the Adirondack Regional Chamber of Commerce’s service area which includes Warren, Washington, Essex and Saratoga counties. Awards will be customized per module and capped at $1,000.

Dave Goyette Memorial Vocational Scholarship

The Dave Goyette Memorial Vocational Scholarship was created to help students pursuing a certificate or degree in vocational education and that reside in Schenectady County.

Health Profession Opportunity Grant (HPOG)

The Health Profession Opportunity Grant (HPOG) is designed to assist individuals who meet low income guidelines and to pursue education and training for occupations in the healthcare field. The grant is administered by SUNY Adirondack, in consortium with SCCC (lead grantee) and FMCC. All eligible applicants are selected by lottery to participate in these training opportunities. Not all eligible applicants will be selected to participate. Certain ETA offerings including Certified Nurse Aide, Phlebotomy, EKG, Medical Administrative Assistant and Medical Terminology are approved programs under this grant.  For additional HPOG details check out the webpage here

Saratoga County Soroptimist "Live Your Dream" Scholarship

The award will go to a woman who is supporting her family. The funds are to be used for expenses related to continuing her education in an undergraduate or skills program.  The amount of the local award is $5,000.  The winner's application will also be submitted to Soroptimist International and may be eligible for additional funding through the "Live Your Dream" award program.
