Heavy Equipment

Program Description: 

This course is designed to provide students with entry-level, hands-on training in heavy equipment operation and workplace safety. Students will begin with industry safety procedures and progress into practical equipment operation and basic site responsibilities.

Participants will gain knowledge and operating experience with a front-end loader, backhoe, dozer, and skid steer while learning proper equipment inspection, safe operating practices, and basic operator responsibilities. Hands-on training and evaluations will be conducted on each piece of equipment to help prepare students for entry-level employment in the construction and heavy equipment industry.

 

Program Outcome

Upon successful completion of the course, students will earn their OSHA-10 certification, initial two-year UDIG-NY Excavation Certification, and Cornell University/NYS Flagging Certification. Students will also complete operational evaluations on each piece of equipment covered during training.
