Driver Education

Driver Education
Tuition: $590

This 48-hour non-credit program is designed to educate students on appropriate driving skills and habits as well as playing a responsible role in the highway transportation/safety system. In addition to the classroom, there will be 24 hours of concurrent in-car instruction (6 hours behind the wheel and 18 hours of observation). Pending DMV approval, successful completion of this course may satisfy the 5-hour pre-licensing course requirement. Please check back for updates.

This course is NOT, by itself, intended as a means to pass the road test. Additional behind the wheel practice is required by DMV (at least 50 hours) in order to take the road test and be ready to obtain a driver’s license.

Students are required to complete 24 hours classroom and 24 hours in-car instruction in order to comply with Department of Motor Vehicle regulations and receive the MV-285 certificate, therefore attendance is extremely important. Students are expected to attend all of the classroom instruction and in-car driving instruction on the scheduled days. If a student knows they will miss a class due to illness, an emergency or for ANY other reason, please notify the instructor prior to class and plan to attend one of the scheduled make-up sessions (dates below). Students can only miss a maximum of 2 classes and 2 in-car driving instruction sessions. If the student is involved in extracurricular activities that interfere with several of the classroom and in-car driving instruction sessions, or if the student knows they will have to miss more than 2 classes and 2 in-car driving instruction for any reason, we encourage you to wait and take the course at a different time. Students who miss 2 classes and 2 in-car driving instruction sessions and do not attend the make-up sessions will be ineligible to receive credit for their MV-285 certificate. If school is closed due to an emergency or weather-related event, the instructor will reschedule class to meet the required hours of instruction.
