Diesel Mechanic Program with Certification - 200 Hours
The Diesel Mechanic program is designed to prepare students to function as entry-level diesel mechanics. Tasks relate to modern diesel engines and commercial vehicles as well as sophisticated heavy equipment systems with electronic functions and advanced computer controls. Diesel mechanics serve their customers with job titles such as Diesel Service Technicians, Diesel Technicians and Diesel Mechanics. The purpose of this program is to prepare students to inspect, repair and overhaul buses and trucks, as well as to maintain and repair diesel vehicles.
Certification: Students who complete this comprehensive course are not only prepared for entry-level positions as technicians in diesel engine repair shops and related facilities, they will be eligible to sit for the Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) Automotive Maintenance and Light Repair (G1) certification exam, however this exam is optional. Certification will issue once candidates complete and submit the 2-year work experience requirement
*Students are required to come prepared for each class with workboots that cover the ankle and workpants.
Tuesday & Thursday 6-9:30pm, as well as occasional Saturdays 9-4:30pm
